 – Fighting between factions in Goma has killed, injured and displaced millions of Congolese over the last decade. A recent International Red Cross report estimates that 40,000 people have died every month since conflict began in 1998 – most of them are women and children.
 There is chronic sexual violence throughout Kivu Province. Girls as young as 10 years of age have fallen victim to marauding factions that swoop in from the deep rainforestu, engaging in killing and raping sprees before disappearing once again into the mist and boys as young as 10 years of age forced to leave their families and recruited into armed groups.

 Starlight International M Welcomed Hundreds of unaccompanied and separated Congolese refugee children entering Uganda. Their parents were killed, they tried to take a refuge but the situation got worse. Over 11,000 refugees, including 6,500 children, have entered Uganda since Sunday night, fleeing escalating violence in Congo (DRC) with an urgent need for essential supplies and accommodation. About 8,000 of the refugees crossed into Uganda mostly are women and children.
